Creating and updating assets

From IBM® Envizi ESG Suite, use the GRESB API to create and update assets in the GRESB portal.

Before you begin

It is a requirement from GRESB that a new asset requires at least two years of data. When creating a new asset by API, values in both the Current - Envizi and Previous - Envizi columns are sent to GRESB. The job will fail if any of the required current and previous fields are marked as Disabled.

About this task

Always ensure that you create your asset in the correct group or fund on GRESB. The first row in the grid tells you which group the asset is currently reporting against.

When creating an asset, a common mistake is to omit the Property Type field. You can update it in the Asset Characteristics form.

Procedure

  1. Create a location or navigate to an existing location.
  2. Click GRESB > GRESB Asset Summary (with API).
If you try to submit data to GRESB you will encounter an error message in the validation column:
GRESB Asset ID not set. Please double check or submit will create new record.
This is expected and the error occurred because Envizi could not find the asset on the GRESB platform. Note that the validation column might be hidden by default.
  3. To create an asset, enter data in the following fields in the grid:
    • Asset Name
    • Property Type
    • Country
    • Province / State
    • City
    • Asset Size
    • % of Ownership
  4. Click Create GRESB Asset.
  5. Refresh the grid to see if the job completed successfully. If the job failed, check the validation column, which is hidden by default as the grid only shows eight columns when loading for the first time.
  6. After the asset has been created, you can then proceed to submit other available responses of the asset to GRESB by API on the same page. This has to be done separately after the asset creation, because asset creation only initially uploads the previous asset characteristics fields of the new asset to GRESB.
