Providing access to SRM
A Sustainability Reporting Manager (SRM) user is a specialized role that can be added to users. Organization-level system administrators can assign users to the SRM role.

About this task
- Access level
- Access level is configured in the base platform and determines data access and viewing permissions in Sustainability Reporting Manager. An organization-level user can view all the disclosures of the organization, but a group-level user is restricted to disclosures within their assigned group. The reporting boundary set on disclosures dictates which access level applies. If a disclosure is assigned a group-level boundary, only users with that group or higher access can view it.
For more information about access level, see Setting up users.
- Access role
-
Access role is also set in the base platform and defines what actions a user can perform.
System Administrators have the highest level of control within their access level so they can configure Sustainability Reporting Manager for disclosure preparation. For example, disclosure preparation might involve Creating a custom framework, Creating a disclosure, Adding questions to the disclosure, and Assigning questions to users. This task is typically assigned to ESG managers in the organization.
General Users only have permissions to view and participate in a disclosure that they have tasks in. They must be designated a disclosure role before they can contribute by Responding to questions, Reviewing responses, or Approving responses. This role is typically assigned to data providers and checkers in the organization. For more information, see Disclosures.
View-Only users do not have edit permissions. However, they can view the contents in the Sustainability Reporting Manager if they are designated a disclosure role. For more information, see Assigning questions
Auditors have full visibility in all disclosures without getting any disclosure roles. They cannot contribute any content, but can leave comments.
Note: Access level permissions take precedence over access role permissions:- A Group System Administrator cannot view, create, or participate in disclosures in a different group.
- A Group Auditor cannot view disclosures in a different group.
- A Group General User or View-Only User cannot be assigned to a disclosure in a different group.
- Disclosure role
- Disclosure roles provide extra permissions within Sustainability Reporting Manager and are meant to progress workflow-specific tasks to facilitate the report preparation process. These roles grant specific editing rights to responses within a disclosure, but do not override access level or access role.
- A System Administrator can view and edit all responses within their level, regardless of disclosure role.
- An Auditor can view all disclosures within their level, but cannot edit responses regardless of disclosure role.
- A View-Only user with a role in a response can view the disclosure but cannot edit.
- If a General User is assigned as Disclosure Owner, they get extra permissions to modify the disclosure, add or remove questions, and assign questions to other users.

The user can now access the Sustainability Reporting Manager. Depending on their access level and access role, they have different experiences in Sustainability Reporting Manager.
