Monthly dataset - Dynamic fields

You can build custom PowerReports by using the predefined fields of the monthly dataset. Some fields are dynamic and are based on the configuration of elements in your environment.

Each of the dynamic field sets has two tables in the monthly dataset. One table contains a tabular version of the data that you can use to pivot the information or return the data in table format, for example, Data Type Group, Ratio, Social Metric. The other table contains stand-alone fields for each element, so you can use the values in visuals without applying filters, for example, Data Type Groups, Ratios, Social Metrics.

Data type groups - row based

Note: You cannot filter data type groups by custom tags in PowerReports.
Table 1. Data type group fields - row based
Field Description
Data Type Group Amount This value is generated by summing the consumption in the chosen reporting unit for Data Types in the Data Type Group
Data Type Group Amount PY Returns the field value above for the same period in the previous year of the selected reporting period
Data Type Group Variance Amount Calculates the variance between the current and previous periods. Data Type Group Amount - Data Type Group Amount PY
Data Type Group Variance % Total percentage variance between the current and previous periods. (Data Type Group Amount - Data Type Group Amount PY) / Data Type Group Amount PY * 100
Data Type Group Name Name of the Data Type Group (predefined, customizable)
Data Type Group Unit Reporting unit of the Data Type Group (predefined, customizable)

Data type groups - column based

Features of data type groups - column based include the following:
  • Data Type Groups are predefined aggregated list of data types for your organization.
  • Data Type Groups can be defined by system administrators.
  • Once defined, each Data Type Group will be available as a separate column in this table.
For more information about setting up data type groups, see Setting up data type groups.

Ratio - row based

Note: Ratios are not able to be filtered by custom tags in PowerReports.
Table 2. Ratio fields - row based
Field Description
Ratio Amount Calculated ratio amount based on ratio definition - numerator Data Type Groups divided by denominator Data Type Groups
Ratio Amount PY Returns the field value above for the same period in the previous year of the selected reporting period
Ratio Variance Amount Calculates the variance between the current and previous periods.Ratio Amount - Ratio Amount PY
Ratio Variance % Total percentage variance between the current and previous periods (Ratio Amount - Ratio Amount PY) / Ratio Amount PY * 100
Ratio Denominator Total reporting amount of Data Type Groups that is being defined as ratio denominator
Ratio Denominator PY Returns the field value above for the same period in the previous year of the selected reporting period
Ratio Denominator Variance Amount Calculates the variance between the current and previous periods Ratio Denominator - Ratio Denominator PY
Ratio Denominator Variance % Total percentage variance between the current and previous periods (Ratio Denominator - Ratio Denominator PY) / Ratio Denominator PY * 100
Ratio Name Name of the Ratio (predefined, customizable)
Ratio Numerator Total reporting amount of Data Type Groups that is being defined as ratio numerator
Ratio Numerator PY Returns the field value above for the same period in the previous year of the selected reporting period
Ratio Numerator Variance Amount Calculates the variance between the current and previous periods Ratio Numerator - Ratio Numerator PY
Ratio Numerator Variance % Total percentage variance between the current and previous periods (Ratio Numerator - Ratio Numerator PY) / Ratio Numerator PY * 100
Ratio Optional Unit Optional Unit of the Ratio (predefined, customizable)
Ratio Period Name

Optional Ratio attribute defined for ratio accumulative calculation if required

  • Not Applicable (default)
  • To Date Only
  • Previous To Date Only
Scale_By Scale by number (predefined, customizable) e.g., 100 is typically used for scaling up percentage values

Ratios - column based

Features of ratios - column based include the following:
  • A ratio is the result of mathematical division between two Data Type Groups.
  • Ratios are predefined custom measures specifically for your organization.
  • Ratios can be defined by a system administrator.
  • Once defined, each measure will be available as a separate column in this table.
For more information about setting up ratios, see Setting up ratio and rates.

Social metrics - row based

The standalone fields that are available in the Social Metrics table are displayed in Table 3 and are labeled with the Social Metric Field Name, and are organized into folders based on the Social Metrics Account Style.
Table 3. Social metrics fields - row based
Field Description
Social Metrics Account Style The name of the account style containing social metrics.
Social Metric Field Name The field name within the account style.
Social Metric Text Any text values that are entered as records in social metrics account styles are available in this field.
Social Metric Values Any numeric values that are entered as records in social metrics account styles are available in this field.
Social Metric Values PY Returns the field value for Social Metric Values for the same period in the previous year of the selected reporting period.
Social Metric Values Variance Calculates the variance between the current and previous periods:
Social Metrics Values - Social Metric Values PY
Social Metric Values Variance % Total percent variance between the current and previous periods:
(Social Metrics Values - Social Metrics Values PY) / Social Metrics Values PY * 100

Social metrics - column based

Note: Social Metrics are not currently able to be filtered by groups or custom tags in PowerReports. For filtering, you can use any of the fields in the Location or Item tables.
Features of social metrics - column based include the following:
  • Social Metrics are available when any Social Metrics based account styles have been configured.
  • Each field available in the account style will be available as a separate field in this table.
  • These fields will be grouped in folders based on the name of the account style.
  • Social Metrics account styles can be configured on request through your IBM Envizi contact.
