Uploading new target data in bulk
Use the blank target data template to configure new target data in bulk in a target container. The blank target data template is an Excel-based template and report.

Procedure
Generating the template
- In the IBM® ESG Suite, use the Manage menu to display the targets grid that contains the target that you want to add new data to.
- Right-click the target and click Generate Blank Template.

In the Run Report dialog, complete the fields.
The dialog includes the following fields:
- Select Output Type
- The default option is to display the report on screen, but the report can also be emailed.
- Report
- The value is fixed to the Generate Blank Template report that you selected.
- For Organization
- The value is fixed to your organization.
- Select Target
- The value is preset to the target that you selected in the targets grid.
- Select Group
- You can choose to generate blank values for a subset based on the group hierarchy.
- Select Location
- You can choose to generate blank values for all locations or for a single location.
- Select Data Types
- You can choose only the relevant data types.
- Filter by #1
- Choose the correct type of target data to generate blank values. For bottom-up targets, choose the same option that is used for the target's lowest level of targets. For example, if the target was configured with the lowest level set to Locations, select Locations.
- Filter by #2
- Select Monthly to generate a blank template with rows for each month in the target effective period range. Select Full period to generate a blank template with a single row for the full period of the target, where target values are apportioned monthly across the entire period.

Click Submit.
A blank Excel template is generated and displayed on screen or emailed.
Populating the template and preparing it for processing

In the
Target Value
column, enter the required target values.You should need to edit only the values in this column. -
Check that the dates in the
Start period
andEnd period
columns are in a standard date format and not the raw Excel number format.Examples of a date in standard date format are 01-Jan-18 or 01/1/18.Draft comment: annette.sohor1@ibm.com
Is the raw number format eg given in the KB supposed to be equivalent to 01 Jan 18, eg "43101"? - Delete any rows for which you do not want to create target data.
- Ensure that you update the sheet name to Setup.

Save the template as an xlsx file.
Ensure that the file name has the prefix Blank_Target_Data_Template, for example, Blank_Target_Data_Template_2024_targets.xlsx.
- Email the file to your allocated Envizi address for uploading files, for example, au001p03h@envizi.com.
This is called Run Report in my env, compared to Generate Blank Template in the KB. Has it changed?
