Extracting bulk interval data

The bulk interval data extract report enables a user to extract interval meter data for all energy and water meters. You can split a very large data extraction report into smaller reports based on customized options.

Interval meter data is typically captured in native units of 15min or 30min intervals. When extracting data, you can choose the aggregation period by selecting native units, 30min, hourly or daily. The report produces files that can be distributed and opened in Excel, and therefore it caps the number of rows per file to a maximum of 1,000,000 rows per file.

Run a bulk interval data extract report by using the Actions menu on the Meters grid page.

Configuring bulk interval extract selection criteria

Depending on how many meters are to have their data extracted, the interval period captured and the time period requested, the resulting process may generate a large number of files. The report provides an estimate of the number of files that will be generated for a given set of selection criteria. The selection criteria required to determine an estimate of the number of files include the selected groups and location, report format, the meters selected and whether they are actual or virtual, the utility type, and the aggregation period and time period. The previous criteria determine the options provided for splitting the data extract report into smaller reports. The options provided in Split By may take up to 1 minute to populate for large organizations that have more than 1000 meters.

A range of different options are provided for the file generation process. Choose the option that best meets the needs of the data extract report to be obtained. For example, if you want the data to be extracted so you end up with one file per location, choose the split by location options. If you want to minimize the number of files generated, choose the option that provides the lowest number of files.

After the selections have been submitted, you will receive an initial email that contains a summary of the data extract files, and the files will then be prepared.

Depending on the file size, the data extract files will either be sent by email, or attached in your personal page. Files less than 7MB will be attached in a compressed zip format in an email, and files 7 MB or greater will be attached in your personal page. Files greater than 7MB will be hosted by IBM® Envizi ESG Suite and stored in the personal page of the user selected when running the extract. The files will be prepared in the attachments section of a users personal page, which can be accessed in the preview panel.
