Time of use (TOU) schedules can be configured to support the attribution of cost to meter
data. A TOU schedule defines periods within a day that can be associated with consumption charges.
For example, if a utility charges more for a given unit of consumption during peak hours, this can
be defined within the TOU schedule. The TOU schedule can then be applied to charges.
About this task
The following procedure shows how to configure a TOU schedule for an individual meter. You
can also use bulk update templates to assign schedules to meters.
Procedure
-
In IBM®
Envizi ESG Suite, click
.
The Schedules page is displayed
that contains a grid of existing schedules.
- To create a TOU schedule, click Create New.
You will
need to give the schedule a name and description, and you must choose the Retail Time of
Use schedule type.
- After you have created the schedule, right-click it and select Edit
Schedule.
- To create a season, click Add Season.
A season defines
the time periods the TOU bands will apply to. You can select all months, certain months, or create a
custom period of time. Everything that is defined within the TOU bands will be applicable to the
period defined within the season.
- After the season has been created, use one of the following options to define the
relevant TOU periods:
- Click anywhere on the TOU graphic to display the Add Period
dialog.
- Prefill the days and start and end times in the Add Period dialog by
selecting an area on the graphic.
- In the Add Period dialog, for the Mode select
either Retail On Peak, Retail Off Peak, or
Retail Standard. The mode determines the charge rate that is applied for
meter consumption during the period.
- After you have defined the TOU periods, to assign the schedule to the relevant meters
through the meters grid, display the preview panel, expand the Schedule Assignments section and
click Add to display the Add dialog:
- For Allow Operation as Per, select the
Retail Time of Use schedule that you created
previously.
- For For Selected Modes, select Retail On
Peak. It is not necessary to assign separate schedules for Retail Off
Peak or Retail Standard.
Results
After the TOU schedule has been assigned to the meter, it will automatically detect what
charges should be associated with it, and you can report estimated cost data.
