Ranking groups by intensity
The Ranking Groups by Intensity dashboard compares performance across peer groups by intensity.
About this task
- Emissions (t CO2e)
- Energy (GJ)
- Cost (USD)
- Mass (kg)
- Volume (m3)
Groups are ranked on the dashboard based on an intensity measure that you select in the By drop-down list, such as energy production, production units, and floor area.
The By drop-down list is populated with KPIs that your system administrator created to use as intensity measures. For more information, see Setting up KPIs.
- Rank groups on emissions performance by floor area.
- Rank groups on energy produced by head count
For more information about calculating intensity measures, see Calculating intensity measures in Performance dashboards.
- Only data types that are associated with the unit of measure or intensity are included on the dashboard.
- Only the groups in your group hierarchy that are directly linked to locations are used for ranking.
- For accumulative KPIs, the intensity calculation for each month is:
Consumption/KPI
. - For instantaneous KPIs, the intensity calculation for each month is annualized:
(Consumption/KPI)/number of days within the period * 365
Intensity calculations for instantaneous KPIs are annualized so that periods can be compared in true like-for-like fashion. If the intensity is not annualized, the intensity value fluctuates depending on the selected period. For example, months that have different numbers of days, compare January with 31 days to February with 28 days, but with identical daily rates of consumption would have different monthly intensity values.
See the following worked example:
January consumption = 31,000 kWh
Floor area = 50 m2
Non-annualized intensity = 31,000/50 = 620 kWh/m2
Annualized intensity = (31,000/50)/31 * 365 = 7,300 kWh/m2
February consumption = 28,000 kWh
Floor area = 50 m2
Non-annualized intensity = 28,000/50 = 560 kWh/m2
Annualized intensity = (28,000/50)/28 *365 = 7,300 kWh/m2
Both months have the same daily rate of consumption (1000 kWh/day). However, if the intensity calculation is not annualized, the months would have different intensities because of the different number of days in each period.
Procedure
- From the main menu, click .
- Select a comparison period for the ranking chart.
- Select a unit of measure in the View drop-down list.
- Select a KPI to use as an intensity in the By drop-down list.
- Select the time range of the dashboard. Data is aggregated by month.
- Review the ranking of groups by the intensity.
- Review detailed information about each group in the ranking from the Groups grid. The grid includes charts that display trend information for each group over the selected period.
