Use the Data Export AddOn to export the source tables or CSV files that make up the monthly data set to an S3 or SFTP location that is hosted by IBM® ESG Suite.

These files can then be copied and used to rebuild the data model in your own BI application for data analysis outside of Envizi ESG Suite.
Important: To rebuild the data model from the Monthly Dataset source tables, that is CSV file, requires specialist IT and data analysis skills. It is strongly recommended that you use the monthly dataset PowerReport in Envizi ESG Suite and that you use the Data Export AddOn where your organization has the requisite skills to work with the exported files.

Configuring Data Export

Note: To use this feature, you must purchase the Data Export AddOn. Certain features described in this topic are available when the Data Export product is added to your Envizi ESG Suite instance.
The Data Export AddOn is configured by using Data Flow Automation. To configure the export you configure, complete these high-levels steps to configure a data service and pipeline:
  1. Configure a Data Export data service. For more information, see Provisioning an Amazon S3 data service or Provisioning an Amazon SFTP transfer.
  2. Configure a Data Export data pipeline. For more information, see Provisioning an Amazon S3 data service.

Initializing the Data Export

When you have configured a Data Export data pipeline, you can initialize the data feed by using the manual refresh action as described in Provisioning an Amazon S3 data service. Alternatively, you can wait for the scheduled daily refresh as described in the Scheduled export job section.

If errors occur in the data export, the errors are reported on the Data Export Status page. For more information, see Monitoring export jobs.
Note: It can take several minutes for the log entry to appear on this page after a manual refresh is triggered.

Scheduled export job

After you configure the data export data pipeline, a scheduled export job runs as part of the daily monthly dataset refresh. Generally, the refresh occurs overnight in the region your Envizi ESG Suite instance is hosted.

Rebuilding the Monthly Dataset

When you purchase the Data Export AddOn, you will receive information regarding the tables and relationships in the monthly dataset. You can use this information to rebuild the data model in your own BI application.
Note: The Monthly Dataset PowerReport in Envizi ESG Suite contains several dynamic measures which change depending on the data you select in the report, for example, previous year values. The steps to recreate these measures are not provided in the product documentation because the steps vary depending on the BI application that you are using.
