Social metrics account styles
Social metrics account styles help organizations capture more quantitative data within an account. These account styles can have up to 40 fields and each field can be classified as instantaneous or accumulative, which is important when data is normalized or aggregated for reporting.
Note: Social metrics monthly normalization can be added to existing account styles that have
secondary fields. Contact the IBM Envizi team to enable this feature.
Social metrics account styles provide the following capabilities:
- Monthly normalization
- All quantitative metrics will be monthly normalized for both instantaneous and accumulative data.
- Monthly data grid
- Social metrics monthly data is available monthly in the Monthly Data grid at the account level. For more information, see Monthly Data grid.
- Record preservation in monthly dataset
- Environmental account styles will combine overlapping data within a single month into a single monthly data value. This prevents disaggregation of data at the record level in reporting. Social metrics preservers the record by keeping the monthly values split apart.
- Picklists and text
- The fields in social metrics account styles can be configured as pick list or text values.
Table 1 displays examples of the aggregation
methods.
The following capabilities are not supported for social account styles:
Monthly normalization aggregation method | Description | Example |
---|---|---|
Accumulative | Aggregates by summing all monthly values for the defined period. | What is the total number of widgets produced for your organization last year? |
Instantaneous - Sum for most recent month | Aggregates data by summing all instantaneous values for the most recent month. | What is the total headcount for your organization at year end? |
Instantaneous - Simple average for most recent month | Aggregates data by averaging all instantaneous values for the most recent month. | What is the average headcount per location at year end? |
Instantaneous - Sum across a defined period | Aggregates data by summing the average of all instantaneous values across a defined period. | What is the total headcount for your organization over a defined period? |
Instantaneous - Simple average across a defined period | Aggregates data by averaging all instantaneous values across a defined period. | What is the average headcount for your organization over a defined period? |
Instantaneous - Weighted average for most recent month | Aggregates data by summing all values for the most recent month defined in the field's
calculation. This method applies only to calculated fields. |
What is the percentage of female employees in the organization at year end? |
Instantaneous - Weighted average across a defined period | Aggregates data by summing the averages of all values across the defined period in the
field’s underlying calculation. This method applies only to calculated fields. |
What is the percentage of female employees in the organization over a defined period? |
- Application of factors
- While social metrics account styles cannot have emission factors or other conversions, environmental account styles can be configured as both environmental and social metrics. This will apply the social metrics monthly normalization to all secondary fields in the account style. By default, all normalization assumes fields are accumulative. Contact the IBM Envizi team to turn on social metrics for any environmental account styles.
- Accruals
- Accruals for social metrics are not supported.
- Cross account style calculation
- Fields captured in social metrics account styles can only be used in calculations within the same account style.
- Records view
- Social metrics field values are not yet available in the
Records Data
grid at the account level.
