Inventory Migration - Software entitlements migration rules

• The business as usual rules are enforced - license terms for each software entitlement apply.
• There are no hardware type dependencies.
• IBM i processor license migrations are not supported - use the billable 5733-NKY process through your IBM Representative or Business Partner.
• "None" machine (stand-alone Software) can be used as a donor or a target for Power software running on IBM i, AIX, and Linux. The "none" machine can be your target when you remove software from your hardware while preparing it for sale or decommission and while waiting for your new hardware to arrive. All transferable software can be moved to the "none" machine and wait there until you are ready to transfer it to a real hardware. Once you have your new hardware available, you can use the "none" machine as a donor.
• If a software license is migrated from a lower hardware tier to a higher hardware tier, extra upgrade orders may be necessary through an IBM Business Partner or IBM Digital Seller.

When you transfer software entitlements, the TLS Conga service renewal software maintenance on the donor system is cancelled. The software entitlements on the target system become subject to after‑license fees. We recommend working with your Business Partner during this process.
