Inventory Migration - Hardware activations migration rules
Requirements
Hardware activations migration conditions for Power Enterprise Pool 1.0 (Mobile Capacity resources) and Power Enterprise Pool 2.0 (Base Capacity resources) apply for all systems - donors and targets.
-
machines need to be on hardware maintenance or warranty
-
machines must exist in the same Power Enterprise Pool
-
machines must be the same product line, for instance, both machines must be High-end (supported in PEP 1.0, PEP 2.0), Midrange (supported in PEP 2.0), Scale-out (supported in PEP 2.0)
-
upgrades must be installed (for the cases of MES orders)
Base Capacity and Power Enterprise Pool 2.0 - Rules and exchange rate
- Minimum capacity resources need to be kept on the donor machine
- E1080 High-end and E1050 Midrange - processor (core) and memory resources can be transferred
- S1024 and S1022 Scale-out - only processor (core) resources can be transferred
- E1080 High-end: For each unit (1) of Base Capacity purchased new on a Target Machine, you are authorized to migrate up to three (3) corresponding units of Base Capacity resources from a Donor Machine to a Target Machine
- E1050 Midrange, S1024 Scale-out and S1022 Scale-out: For each unit (1) of Base Capacity purchased new on a Target Machine, you are authorized to migrate up to one (1) corresponding unit of Base Capacity resources from a Donor Machine to a Target Machine
- Hardware transfer is at no additional charge
Mobile Capacity and Power Enterprise Pool 1.0 - Rules and exchange rate
- You can transfer all processor (core) and memory resources on the Power9 machine. The limit is the maximum physical number of processors available on your Power10 system.
- After the migration of donor capacity, the Power9 donor system must be removed from the Power Enterprise Pool and your Power9 machine must be decommissioned. Refer to Power Enterprise Pools 1.0 - How to decommission servers from PEP 1.0?.
- Only those mobile activations purchased directly for the Power9 are supported to transfer
- Any mobile activations that you previously migrated from your older POWER7 or Power8 systems to the Power9 are not supported for migration
- Hardware transfer is at no additional charge
