Synchronizing users
The ClearQuest® Synchronizer Setup Wizard creates a users synchronization rule for synchronizing ClearQuest user records with Jazz® user records.
About this task
The primary purpose of the users synchronization rule is to support the other record type synchronization rules that include mappings of users. For example, a synchronization rule for the Defect record type would typically include a mapping of the Created By and Submitter properties, and that mapping would reference the users synchronization rule.
The following table summarizes the synchronization behavior of the different settings.
| Synchronization Direction in users synchronization rule | Behavior |
|---|---|
| In/Out | Users are synchronized when a work item that references them is synchronized. Adding a user to the Jazz repository or modifying a user does not cause the ClearQuest Synchronizer to create or modify a corresponding user record in the ClearQuest user database. The ClearQuest administrator must add the user to the ClearQuest user database. |
| In | Synchronization of a work item that references a Jazz user that does not have a corresponding user record in the ClearQuest user database fails. The ClearQuest administrator must add the user to the ClearQuest user database. |
Restriction: If you create or modify a ClearQuest user record and
upgrade the ClearQuest user
database, that addition or change is not propagated to the Jazz repository.
