You can graphically view a component to show how streams and workspaces have changed and
view their interactions with one another based on baseline flow operations. You can use this view to
show how changes flow across release streams, view where baselines are used in different streams,
and compare the contents of two streams or workspaces.
About this task
When you open this view for the first time, it shows only the stream or workspace on which it was
invoked. The view is a graphical representation of the baseline history view.
The default diagram shows how baselines flow between streams and workspaces. It also hides
certain baseline events that are less important to many users; for example, backup baselines that
are created as a side-effect when a user replaces the baseline in a workspace. You can change the
default settings to filter information.
When you reopen this view, the same streams are displayed and filters set as the last time you
viewed the component. This setting is saved for each user for each component.
Procedure

In the Team Artifacts window, right-click a component of a stream or
workspace; then, click Show History Graph.
- Optional:
To add more streams or workspaces to the diagram, in the upper right corner, click the
Add more streams and repository workspaces to the diagram icon.
- Optional:
To filter information, in the upper right corner, click the Diagram
settings icon. In the Filters area, select any of the following items:
- Show only releases: Show only the baselines that are included in a
released build snapshot. A released build is one which has been associated with a release on the
Releases page of the Project Area editor.
- Hide backup baselines: Backup baselines are created automatically to
preserve changes when replacing or removing a component in a workspace or stream. This filter hides
those backup baselines in the diagram.
- Hide baselines that do not bring in changes: Not all operations
performed on a workspace or stream introduce new changes. This filter hides baseline operations in
the diagram that do not contain any additional content when compared to the previous operation on
that stream or workspace.
- Hide accepted baselines: Hide operations that represent accept or
deliver of baselines to a workspace or stream.
- Show baselines by a specific filter: Show only those baselines that
match specific criteria, such as certain tags or name prefixes.
- Optional:
To compare baselines, select two baseline operations in the view; then, click
Compare Baselines. This comparison is useful to find out what is included in
a new build or what changed between releases.
- Optional:
To show baseline repository files, select a baseline operation in the view; then, click
Show Baseline Repository Files. This action is useful to look at the contents
of a baseline.
- Optional:
In some cases, the contents of a stream are different than the contents of a baseline after an
operation. For example, Baseline1 is accepted from
Stream1 into parallel Stream2. Then,
Stream2 contains the changes of both streams. To show the contents of
Stream2 after the accept operation, select Baseline1
in the view; then, click Show Repository Files.
- Optional:
To compare the contents of two streams, as described in Step 6, if the contents of the stream are different than
the content of the baseline after the operation, select two baseline operations in the view; then,
click Compare to compare the contents of two streams after those baseline
operations. This action can be useful to view the differences between two streams or two different
periods of the same stream when the stream contains extra changes on top of the receiving
baselines.

To open the view in an external browser:

Note: The operations that open in default client views (Compare Baselines or
Show Baseline Repository Files) are not available from an external
browser.
