Navigation of outgoing links from work items to versioned artifacts
Outgoing links from work items to versioned artifacts are determined by the global configuration (GC).
When you log in to the Change Management dashboard, if no GC is selected by the user, the default configuration is used and automatic selection is inferred by the system. Navigation uses the User Selected Configuration Context (USCC), if it was selected. Otherwise, if the USCC is set to ‘Default configurations’ or is not enabled, GC is inferred. The USCC takes precedence over the inferred GC.
- If you select ‘Default configurations’ in the banner, it might be possible that a work item is not able to resolve certain link types to a GC based on the OSLC link type to Attribute mapping, and the Release to GC mapping and vice versa. In this case, you can’t go to the link from the work item to the versioned artifact.
- The links still stay visible on the work item, but the GC is not appended to the link, so navigation doesn’t work because the target application requires the GC to be able to resolve the versioned artifact.
While the selection is set to ‘Default configuration’, when you hover over the label portion of the widget, a tooltip is also displayed.
When the selection is set to an actual GC, the full name of the GC and a message is displayed when you hover over the label portion of the widget.
In the web client plan editor, if you select multiple items and attempt to create an OSLC link, a message displayed.
In the Configuration Management - OSLC Link/Attribute Mapping section in the Project Area Editor, the Enable user selection of configuration context in the banner is cleared by default.
- Links from a work item to another artifact are resolved based on the configuration context that is selected by the user.
- Links from artifacts to work items are resolved based on the saved attribute values of the work item.
For global configuration that is configured on the Releases page of the EWM admin, when you hover over the tooltip icon in the corresponding column heading, a message is displayed.
