Creating or deleting snapshot associations

A snapshot is initially associated with the repository workspace or stream from which it was created. You can establish a relationship between the snapshot and another stream by setting the owner of the snapshot. You can also delete a snapshot, which removes it from the repository.

About this task

Setting an owner or deleting a snapshot creates or breaks an association between the snapshot and a stream or repository workspace. In a typical use case, a snapshot that is created by a build is assigned an owner to a distinguished stream, such as an integration stream or one that can become the basis for a release.

Procedure

  • To set an owner for a snapshot:
    1. In the Team Artifacts view, navigate to the stream that the snapshot belongs to.
    2. Right-click the stream and click Show > Snapshots.
    3. In the Search Results view, right-click the snapshot, and then click Set Owner.
    4. In the Select a Stream or Workspace window, select the stream or repository workspace owner of the snapshot.
If the stream or repository workspace is not displayed, you can enter a text string that can be used to search for a stream or repository workspace whose name matches all or part of the text string. If you are not sure of the name of the stream or repository workspace but know the name of its owner, you can enter the name of the owner to see a list of streams or repository workspaces that are associated with that owner.
    5. Click OK to associate the snapshot with the selected stream or repository workspace.
Note: Setting the owner of a snapshot to another stream does not deliver the latest baselines from the components in that snapshot.
  • To delete a snapshot:
    1. In the Team Artifacts view, navigate to the stream that includes the snapshot.
    2. Right-click the stream and click Show > Snapshots.
    3. In the Search Results view, right-click the snapshot that you want to delete and click Delete.
    4. Click OK to confirm the deletion.
The association between the stream and the snapshot is broken, and the snapshot is removed from the repository.

What to do next

Note: You can use the same procedures to set the owner or delete a snapshot that is associated with a repository workspace. Search for snapshots that are associated with repository workspaces in the Pending Changes view or the Team Artifacts view.
