Managing outgoing change sets

A change set is classified as outgoing when it is in a workspace but not in one or more of its flow targets.

About this task

If you have outgoing change sets, the Repository Workspaces panel shows a greater-than symbol (>) next to the workspace name.
Note: A less-than symbol (<) indicates that incoming changes are pending for your workspace. If the workspace has both incoming and outgoing changes that are pending, both symbols (<>) are displayed. If the change sets include files that are in both incoming and outgoing change sets, the symbols point toward each other >< to indicate a conflict between the change sets. An exclamation point (!) indicates that the repository workspace contains unresolved conflicts.

Procedure

  1. To see the outgoing change sets, on the Repository Workspaces panel, enter O beside the workspace that has the exclamation point (!) symbol.
In addition to outgoing change sets on the Outgoing Change Sets panel, you might also see outgoing baselines. Outgoing baselines are denoted by BL in the first column.
  2. On the Outgoing Change Sets panel, enter a forward slash (/) next to an outgoing change set to see a menu of actions. You can also take any of the following actions:
    1. To complete the change set, so that no more changes can be added to the change set, enter C beside the change set on the Outgoing Change Sets panel.
    2. To view the change set details, enter V on the Outgoing Change Sets panel. The Change Set Details panel opens.
Note: You cannot view files for outgoing baselines.
On the Change Set Details panel, you can enter a forward slash (/) beside an outgoing change set to see a menu of actions. You can also take any of the following actions:
      • To view the local file that is stored in your local data set, enter L.
      • To view the local file that is stored in your local data sets in ASCII format, enter LA.
      • To view the local file that is stored in your local data sets in UTF-8 format, enter LU.
      • To view the remote file in a temporary data set, enter R.
      • To view the remote file in a temporary data set in ASCII format, enter RA.
      • To view the remote file in a temporary data set in UTF-8 format, enter RU.
      • To compare the local file in your sandbox to the remote file in a temporary data set, enter C.
      • To compare the local file in your sandbox to the remote file in a temporary data set in ASCII format, enter CA.

Comparing the file opens the file in a view session. Changes in the local and remote files are noted, along with instructions to identify which file contains the differences.

    3. To deliver the change set to the flow target of the repository workspace, enter D beside the change set.
    4. To associate a work item with the change set, enter W next to the change set. On the Associate a Work Item panel, either enter a work item number or create a new work item.
    5. To discard the change set, enter X beside the change set.
    6. To dissociate a work item from the change set, enter U next to the change set. On the Associated Work Items panel, enter a forward slash (/) beside any work items to dissociate from the change set and press the Enter key.
    7. To edit the comment for a change set, enter E next to the change set. You can change or remove an existing comment or add a comment.
Change set comments are displayed with the work item summary.
