Locating change sets

You can determine which streams, repository workspaces, or snapshots contain a change set or set of change sets.

Procedure

  1. In the Pending Changes view, right-click a change set; then click Locate Change Sets.
Tip: You can open the editor from any other locations that display change sets, such as the Change Explorer view, History view, or Links page of the Work Item editor. You can also select one or more work items from the Work Items view and open the Locate Change Sets editor to display all change sets associated with those work items.
  2. In the Locate Change Sets editor, in the Change Sets area, add change sets or work items to search for. You can drag one or more change sets or work items into the Change Sets area from other views or editors, such as the Work Items view or History view.
  3. Optional: To automatically fetch and add child work items, in the Change Sets area, select Show child work items. This action is useful for tracking all change sets that are related to a high-level work item, such as a plan item or a story.
  4. In the Search Targets area:
    1. Add streams, repository workspaces, or snapshots to search change sets in. You can drag one or more streams, repository workspaces, or snapshots into the Search Targets area from other views, such as the Team Artifacts view or Search view.
Note: You can drag individual Project Area or Repository nodes from the Team Artifacts view, or Team Area nodes from the Team Organization view. However, when you perform this action, all streams under those nodes, including streams owned by child team areas, are added to the Search Targets area. This action can be time-consuming if there are a large number of streams owned by those Project Areas or Team Areas.
    2. Optional: To add workspaces and flow targets that are tracked in the Pending Changes view, beside the Add search targets icon (plus sign), click the arrow icon. Then click Add workspaces and flow targets shown in the Pending Changes view.
    3. Optional: To add streams from project and team areas that you are a member of, beside the Add search targets icon (plus sign), click the arrow icon. Then click Add streams from project and team areas that I am a member of.
  5. Optional: To view various results in the Search Targets area:
Note: After you select or clear change sets in the Change Sets area, results display immediately in the Search Targets area if there are search targets present in the editor.
    1. Click the Show flat view icon to sort results alphabetically by search target, or to sort the results by percentage found.
    2. Click the Show hierarchical view icon to view results in the context of their owners. In this view, a complete hierarchy tree is available, showing the owners of each search target right up to the root project area or contributor.
    3. Select a search target and then click Show Result Details. The selected search target opens in the Search view. You can explore the set of change sets both found and not found in that search target.
