Creating a work area in Basic mode

Create a work area to share changes with your team.

Before you begin

You have received an email invitation to join a team as well as either a Configuration file for the Engineering Workflow Management source control repository, or an URI for the team’s stream. The source control Configuration file has information about the team's stream and its components, which contain shared folders. For more information, see Creating a source control configuration file in Advanced mode.


  1. Right-click the Engineering Workflow Management Shell taskbar icon; then click Get Started with Engineering Workflow Management > New Work Area.
  2. In the Create Work Area wizard, on the Create Work Area page, click Select Work Area and select a folder for your work area. If you specify a new folder name, that folder is created as your work area.
  3. Click Next.
  4. On the Accept Team Invitation page, paste the text from the email invitation.
  5. Click Next.
  6. On the Source Control Configuration page, click Select File Path and specify the SCM configuration file, or paste the URI for the team’s stream.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Optional: On the Load Rule page, click Select Load Rule and select a load rule file. Click Finish.
