Requesting a package

The packaging build uses the information included in a package definition to create an archive of the deployable binary files. The archive is either a compressed file or a save file.

About this task

After you configure your package definition and associate it with a build engine, you can run that definition to create a package. Each operating system has different definition options.

If you are requesting a work item package, you must choose the work items and associated built binary files to package. If you request a ship list package on IBM® i, Linux®, or UNIX, you can add a time stamp so that only the files that are newer than that time stamp are packaged.

For detailed instructions, see the packaging topics that are related to your operating system.
