Preparing the synchronization environment

To use the ClearCase® Synchronizer and ClearCase Baseline Importer, you must set up a synchronization host and create ClearCase and IBM® Engineering Workflow Management accounts with the proper permissions for running synchronizations.

About this task

To use the ClearCase Synchronizer or the ClearCase Baseline Importer, you must first configure one or more synchronization hosts to support synchronization between Engineering Workflow Management and ClearCase . The ClearCase Synchronizer component, which runs on a computer configured to be a synchronization host, uses the Jazz® Build Engine to manage synchronization between Engineering Workflow Management and ClearCase .

You must identify a synchronization process ClearCase account so that the synchronization process can access ClearCase , and set up a synchronization process Engineering Workflow Management account and add it to your project or team area so that the synchronization process can access the Engineering Workflow Management repositories.

The ClearCase Synchronizer uses the full capability of the synchronization process. It moves data in both directions between Engineering Workflow Management and ClearCase .

The ClearCase Baseline Importer uses only one part of synchronization. It moves data one way from ClearCase to Engineering Workflow Management.
