Preparing the synchronization environment
To use the ClearCase Synchronizer and ClearCase Baseline Importer, you must set up a synchronization host and create Rational® ClearCase® and IBM® Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) accounts with the proper permissions for running synchronizations.
About this task
To use the ClearCase Synchronizer or the ClearCase Baseline Importer, you must first configure one or more synchronization hosts to support synchronization between EWM and Rational ClearCase. The ClearCase Synchronizer component, which runs on a computer configured to be a synchronization host, uses the Jazz® Build Engine to manage synchronization between EWM and Rational ClearCase.
You must identify a synchronization process Rational ClearCase account so that the synchronization process can access Rational ClearCase, and set up a synchronization process EWM account and add it to your project or team area so that the synchronization process can access the EWM repositories.
The ClearCase Synchronizer uses the full capability of the synchronization process. It moves data in both directions between EWM and Rational ClearCase.
The ClearCase Baseline Importer uses only one part of synchronization. It moves data one way from Rational ClearCase to EWM.
