You can define how conceptual change management types are
mapped to specific work item types that are defined in a project's
process configuration.
About this task
In the collaborative lifecycle environment,
you can use the change and configuration management application to
implement solutions that are described in work items. You can create
links from work items (for example, tasks, defects, plan items) to
artifacts of other service providers, such as test cases, test plans,
and requirements. Change management work items can be related to other
work items managed by the same change and configuration application
deployment, or by a different deployment. Plan items can contribute
to a development plan or track other development plans. Attention: If you delete a work item type that is part of a
change management type binding, you must manually update the type
binding. Otherwise, the Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration
(OSLC) creation dialog for change management services contains the
incorrect URI, and an error similar to this one displays when you
try to create a work item from the integrated application:
Cannot
create working copy
Procedure
To define the mapping between a change management type
and a specific work item type in a project:
- Open the Change Management Type Bindings page:
- In the Team Artifacts view of the Work Items perspective,
right-click the project area and select Open.
- Click the Process Configuration tab.
- Expand , then click Change Management Type Binding.
The available change management types are listed in the first
column. You can edit the associated work item type and states in the
row of each change management type. If the change management type
has a logical testing stage, you can define the ready-for-testing
state. If the change management type has a logical resolution stage,
you can define the resolution state.
- In the Defect row, select the work
item type to map to a defect. Based on this selection, the available
values in the Ready for Testing State and Resolution menus
are updated. Select the state that indicates that this Defect type
is ready for testing. Select the state that indicates that the Defect
type is resolved.
- In the Implementation Request row,
select the work item type to map to a plan item. Based on this selection,
the available values in the Ready for Testing State menu
are updated. Select the state that indicates that this plan item type
is ready for testing.
- In the Quality Task row, select
the work item type to map to a quality task.
- In the Requirement CR row, select
the work item type to map to a requirement change request.
- Click Save to save your changes.
