Submitting and tracking defects

This section describes the defect phase of the Engineering Test Management lifecycle.

Defects
At any time during the testing process, you can submit, track, and manage defects. You configure an external defect provider, such as the Engineering Workflow Management application or IBM® Rational® ClearQuest® , and all defects are stored in the external tool.
Configuring the CCM application as your defect provider
Set up integration between the Engineering Test Management (Engineering Test Management) and the Engineering Workflow Management application to use external tools to create and manage your defects and quality tasks.
Designating blocking defects
Use the Manage Blocking Defects window to associate defects with a test case execution record and mark it as blocked.
Submitting defects during test execution
During test execution, you can create new defects or add existing defects and attach them to specific steps in a script. If your team has configured the Engineering Workflow Management (CCM) application as your defect provider, you can file these defects and track their status in the solution.
Checking for duplicate defects
IBM Engineering Test Management incorporates tools to help you check for possible duplicate defects.
Submitting defects from HCL AppScan Tester Edition to Engineering Test Management
You can submit defects to Engineering Test Management directly from a report in HCL Security AppScan Tester Edition. Defects contain information about security issues, such as advisories and fix recommendations, so that developers can fix the problems before they get into production.
