Running tests

This section describes the test execution phase of the Engineering Test Management lifecycle.

Preparing for test execution
Preparing for test execution includes understanding the variety of test execution options, the test case and test suite execution workflows, and the preferences that exist for customizing the test execution behavior in your environment.
Running tests by using OSLC automation providers
If you set up an integration between Engineering Test Management and an OSLC automation provider, such as DevOps Test Virtualization Server, you can use deployment plans during your testing.
Running manual tests
There are several options for running manual tests, including running a test case or test suite, or running a test case or test suite execution record.
Running automated tests
You can create test scripts that refer to automated tests created with other testing tools, configure the execution adapter that is used to run the tests, and run the automated tests from the application.
Running command-line tests
With the command-line adapter, a target test machine is used for command-line execution. You can use this command-line adapter if an adapter for your test type is not available. To use the command-line adapter, the target test machine must be set up to run the adapter and the test machine application must be started on the target test machine. After the command-line script is executed, an Execution Result is returned. The Execution Result includes attachments that contain the standard out and standard error information of the test process.
Running JUnit Selenium adapter execution tests
You can use the JUnit Selenium adapter to run Selenium version 2.0 WebDriver JUnit4 tests in the Engineering Test Management.
Creating and running DevOps Test Integrations and APIs scripts in the Engineering Test Management
You can create a reference to a DevOps Test API script the same way as you create any script in the Engineering Test Management.
Scheduling tests
You can create an execution schedule to run a set of steps at a scheduled time and then use the Scheduled Jobs view to check on the status of all execution schedule jobs.
Managing test runs and results
You can manage your active test runs and results in the Engineering Test Management application.
