If you want to make a precondition available for a different role or time
frame, you must either copy a precondition configuration or create one. For example, even though the
Save Test Plan operation has four preconditions defined for the Everyone role, those preconditions
are not available automatically for the Test Team Member role.
About this task
Typically, teams copy precondition configurations for one of three reasons:
- To customize for a role or time frame within the same project or team area.
For example, your
team defines a New Team Member role. To configure this role, you make a copy of the preconditions
for the existing Team Member role and then add any additional preconditions to the New Team Member
role.
- To customize from a parent area.
For example, the project area defines three preconditions,
and your team wants to add a few more. To add more preconditions, in your team area make a copy of
the preconditions from the project. Then, add the preconditions.
- To copy a useful configuration from another team.
For example, the Repository team wants to
use the preconditions that are set up for the Process team. To use the Process team’s preconditions,
the Repository team must open the Repository team area and then copy the preconditions from the
Process team area.
