Using Report Builder to generate LQE-based reports for Test Plan properties

Before you begin

The following properties that are shown in the Test Plan table view are fetched from the related TCER/TCR execution and are refreshed after each execution:
  • Test Case Attempts
  • Test Suite Attempts
  • Test Case Estimates
  • Test Suite Estimates
  • Test Case Points
  • Test Suite Points
After execution of TCER/TCR, the Test Plan properties are updated but the state of the Test Plan remains the same. So, it is difficult to directly add these properties to LQE-based reports. However, the Test Plan properties can be reported by using the relationship option in the Report Builder.

Procedure

  1. For Test Case Attempts or Test Suite Attempts:
    1. Choose a report type: Lifecycle Query Engine.
    2. Limit the scope to the project area.
    3. Choose an artifact: QM Test Plan.
    4. Trace relationships and add artifact:
      1. Select a Relationship Reported By.
      2. Select QM Test Case Execution Record or QM Test Suite Execution Record.
      3. Pick a Relationship for TCER and add Current Test Case Result.
      4. Make the relationship required.
    5. Set condition: Set the ID of the Test Plan for which the Attempts data is to be retrieved.
    6. Set the QM Test Result Verdict to is not Blocked or is not any of Unassigned, Blocked.
    7. Click continue until the Run report page.
    8. Optional: If the project is Configuration Management (CM) enabled, add the GC and the LC information.
    9. Run the report.
      1. The total number of results that are shown is same as the total number of Test Case Attempts or Test Suite Attempts (Progress)
      2. In the step 4d, if you make the relationship Optional and don’t set any condition for QM Test Result Verdict, then the report shows all the TCERs from the Test Plan. So, the total number of results that are shown is same as the total number of Test Case Attempts or Test Suite Attempts (Total).
  2. For Test Case Estimates or Test Suite Estimates:
    1. Choose a report type: Lifecycle Query Engine.
    2. Limit the scope to the project area.
    3. Choose an artifact: QM Test Plan.
    4. Trace relationships and add artifact:
      1. Select a Relationship Reported By.
      2. Select QM Test Case Execution Record or QM Test Suite Execution Record.
      3. Pick a Relationship for TCER and add Current Test Case Result.
      4. Make the relationship optional.
    5. Set condition: Set the ID of the Test Plan for which the Estimates data is to be retrieved.
    6. On the next page, add columns Estimates and Time spent for TCER by using the column attribute.
    7. Click continue until the Run report page.
    8. Optional: If the project is CM enabled, add the GC and the LC information.
    9. Run the report. The columns Estimate and Time Spent displays the estimate and time spent in minutes. The total of the two columns is same as the data from Test Case Estimates or Test Suite Estimates from the Test Plan table view.
  3. For Test Case Points or Test Suite Points:
    1. Choose a report type: Lifecycle Query Engine.
    2. Limit the scope to the project area.
    3. Choose an artifact: QM Test Plan.
    4. Trace relationships and add artifact:
      1. Select a Relationship Reported By.
      2. Select QM Test Result or QM Test Suite Result.
      3. Pick a Relationship for TCER and add Current Test Case Result.
      4. Make the relationship optional.
    5. Set condition: Set the ID of the Test Plan for which the Points data is to be retrieved.
    6. On the next page, add the columns Points Attempted, Points Blocked, Points Deferred, Points Failed, Points Inconclusive, Points Passed, Points Perm Failed, Points Skipped and Total Points.
    7. Click continue until the Run report page.
    8. Optional: If the project is CM enabled, add the GC and the LC information.
    9. Run the report. The total of data displayed in the selected columns represent data from Test Case Points or Test Suite Points columns of Test Plan table view.
