Lesson 2.1: Reserve lab resources for immediate use

In this lesson, you, in the role of tester, search for a lab resource and reserve the resource for 24 hours.

About this task

You can search for a lab resource that matches the hardware and software configurations that you require for your testing effort. When you open a list of all lab resources, you can click a lab resource ID to see details about the hardware and installed software. You can determine whether the lab resource is currently available. You can then select the lab resource and reserve it for 24 hours.

To locate and reserve a lab resource for immediate use:

Procedure

  1. Log in as Tanuj, the tester. Type tanuj for the user ID and tanuj for the password.
  2. In the main menu, click Lab Management > Browse > Lab Resources. The Browse Lab Resources editor opens.
  3. In the View Builder section, for Type, select Machine.
  4. In Availability, select Today. From and Until are populated with the current date and times.
  5. Click Run. Lab resources that are available today are displayed.
  6. Find and select the physical machine, Server1, that was defined in Lesson 1.1: Create a physical machine .
  7. Click the Reserve Machine icon (Reserve).
    The reserve status of Server1 is updated and is removed from the view of available resources.
    Tip: Clicking refresh may need to be needed to remove the machine from the view.
