Use the artifact list views to copy test artifacts to the same project area or to a
different project area. You can choose to duplicate artifacts with references to related artifacts,
or leave the default options to generate an empty artifact with no references.
Procedure
-
Open the list view for a test artifact. For example, open the list view for a test plan from
the main menu by clicking .
-
Select one or more test artifacts to copy.
-
Click the Action Menu () for one of the
selected artifacts and click Duplicate Artifact
type.
-
In the Duplicating dialog box, select the project area.
If you select a different project area and your test artifacts contain fields that must be
mapped, you will later be prompted for additional information to map the fields, such as category
values.
-
Depending on the artifact, if you are copying to the same project area, select an option for
the test artifacts that are associated with the copy:
- Include links to the same artifacts that the original artifacts link
to: By default, links are created in the duplicated artifact to the artifacts that are
associated with the original artifact. To prevent these links in the duplicated artifact, select
another option. This option is available for test cases and test suites.
- Include links to duplicates of the artifacts that the original artifacts link
to: Artifacts associated with the duplicated original are also copied and links between
the associated duplicates are generated. This option is available for test cases.
- Do not include links to other artifacts: The duplicated artifact is a
basic copy and will not contain links to other artifacts. This option is available for test
cases.
-
Click OK. If you selected a different project area to duplicate to and
your test artifacts contain fields that must be mapped, a second dialog box, Duplicating to New
Project - Cross-Project Area Mapping, is displayed. The destination project must have an equal
or greater number of category types than the source project. Select the values in the target project
area that correspond to the values in the original project area, and then click
Finish.
When the test artifact is duplicated, the progress indicator at the end, shows the status
as Completed. Test artifacts copied to the same project area have
Copy of preceding the name.
Results
Copy information, such as the Copy From artifact, is displayed. For more information about
the artifacts that are copied, see Copying test artifacts.
