Guided tours and template assistant

IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization - Publishing provides you with guided user assistance in the user interface to help you get started quickly.

Document Studio - Guided tours

You can use the guided tours to help you build templates and generate document-style reports for specific data sources.

To access the guided tours, click Help > Take a tour, select a tour, and click Launch.

Once you launch a tour, the Guide view opens. Follow the steps in the Guide view and then click the arrow to move to the next section. Many of the tours begin by starting with a sample template that is designed to work with a particular data source.

Publishing Document Builder - Guided tours

These tours are short tutorials that guide you through the most common workflows, step by step. You can access them at any time from the Help menu.step 1 of scheduling document generation tour

Document Studio - Template assistant

When you open the template editor, the template assistant opens. The blue text boxes indicate where in the user interface to perform the task. The navigation bar in the editor highlights which step you are on.

The template assistant walks you through the following tasks:
  • Adding a data source
  • Dragging and dropping template elements from the Palette to the editor
  • Dragging data source objects to the editor
  • Formatting element properties
  • Editing the template outline
  • Generating the document-style report

To disable the template assistant, open the Windows > Preferences > PUB > Document Design preference page. Set the Enable Studio guide option to No.
