Adding a template comment element

This section describes the template comment element, which can be used to design your document-style report.

Restriction: New feature icon The template comment element is available only in version 2 templates.

Before you begin

Remember: Template comments are not visible in the output and cannot contain conditions. To insert comments that are visible in the output and in the template or are applied in certain conditions, use a Comment element instead of a template comment.

About this task

The template content editor displays only the beginning of each line that you enter in elements that use the Content property. If a text block includes multiple lines, the editor shows the additional lines in a truncated form. This behavior helps you recognize that the content spans multiple lines while keeping the emphasis on the overall structure of the template.

Procedure

  1. In the Palette view, select the Template comment icon Template comment element and drag it into the template content editor.
  2. Double-click the template comment element to add the comment text.
  3. In the Set content for current element window, enter your comment text and click OK.
  4. Click the Save icon to save your changes.
