Setting output properties for PDF documents

You can set output properties, such as the path, default font, and Unicode for PDF documents.

About this task

The default PDF driver produces version 1.5 PDF files. The Legacy PDF driver is no longer supported. If your document specification points to the old legacy PDF driver, modify the specification to refer to the default PDF driver.

Procedure

  1. In the Launcher perspective, expand Output, right-click the Target: PDF, and select Configure Output.
  2. In the Configure PDF Output window, enter the following field details:
    1. Path: Type a path with a file extension or click Browse to select the location for the output.
      You can edit the path to be a relative path from the document specification.
      Example: ..\output\sampleOutput.pdf
    2. Style sheet: Enter a stylesheet or click Browse to select a stylesheet.
    3. User: Enter the username, if the stylesheet is in a secured location.
    4. Password: Enter the password, if the stylesheet is in a secured location.
    5. Authentication: Select the authentication type that applies to accessing your style sheet.
      You can select one of the following authentication types:
      • Auto
      • Basic
      • Form
      • OAuth
      • OAuth-OSLC
      • SSL Certificate: If you choose SSL Certificate, click the + sign to add a certificate. In the Upload Certificate window, enter the certificate title, select the certificate, and click Upload. These certificates are private and user-specific.
      • Smart-Card: If you choose Smart-card, select the certificate and enter the password.
      • Kerberos-SPNEGO
    6. Accept header: Enter an accept type for your style sheet.
      Examples:
      • image/jpeg
      • text/html
      • application/xml
      • */*
    7. Substitution font: Enter the font to be used when the template font cannot be found on the computer. Select a font that is common to most computers.
      Example: Times New Roman
    8. Select Bidirectional languages if the output is written in both languages that read left to right and languages that read right to left.
    9. Click OK.
  3. Save the document specification.

What to do next

After you have configured the output, set or update the properties of the output type from the Properties view. If the PDF is slow to generate, add Section break element icon Section break elements to the template to improve performance.
