Generating analysis reports

Use the report wizard to generate analysis reports that contain method elements and activity relationship data and view it directly in the tool, or export the data into a third party tool such as Rational® Insight, Microsoft Excel, or BIRT report engine.

About this task

The resulting report is saved as a comma separated value (CSV) file which is compatible with many applications. The change date of each element is also captured in the report. This allows to identify the changes in a configuration over time by using a third party compare tool such as Microsoft Excel or Beyond Compare.

Procedure

  1. To access the Report wizard, click File > Report. This opens the Generate Analysis Report window.
  2. Under Select scope, select one of the following options:
    • Entire method library: This option selects all method elements inside the current library.
    • Method configuration: Choose this option to select an available method configuration from the list.
    • Method plug-ins: Choose this option to select one or more method plug-ins from the list.
  3. Under Select relationship type, select one or more of the following options:
    • Variability type: For example, contribute, replace, extend, and extend-replace.
    • References among elements and processes: For example, performers, input/output work products, guidance, and so on.
    • References from RTE fields: Hyperlink references to other elements.
  4. Click Browse or type a location to save the report file.
  5. Click Finish to complete the process and generate the report data to the file.
