Create a navigation view

The goal of this exercise is to create a navigation view in the new method plug-in to provide access to the new delivery process in a published Web site.

About this task

Navigation views are created by creating a custom category that includes the content that you want to be included in the name of the view. The Presentation name of the custom category becomes the name of the tab in the published site, and the contents of the custom category become the contents of the view.

In this example, you will create a navigation view that just contains the new delivery process.

Procedure

  1. In the Authoring perspective, go to the Library view and expand the rup_teamx content plug-in.
  2. Click Method Content > Custom Categories and right-click New > Custom Category.
  3. For the Name field enter "rup_for_teamx_dp_process_view" and for the Presentation name field enter "RUP Development Process for Team X".
  4. Click the Assign tab.
  5. Use Assign to add elements.
    1. Click Collapse All and expand rup_teamx > Processes >Delivery Processes. You should see the classic_rup_for_teamx delivery process.
    2. Select classic_rup_for_teamx.
    3. Click OK.
You should now see your selection listed.
  6. Click File > Save All.
