Creating a UI type from scratch

About this task

When you create a new UI type from scratch, the UI type definition is blank. It is like a blank slide where you can add parameters as required and apply formatting to the nodes.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the artifact in the view, and click Edit node. The Nodes dialog box opens.
  2. On the UI type tab, click the pencil icon that is next to the UI type list. The UI types dialog box opens.
  3. Click the Add icon to create a new UI type.

  4. In the Add new UI type window, enter the ID for the new UI type, and click Ok.
    The new UI type is added in the list. You can see blank UI type definition.

  5. Click Add… to add required parameters in the UI type definition.

  6. In the Add parameter window, specify parameter name and value.

    You can also add image parameter in the UI type definition. For more information, see Adding image parameter in UI type.
  7. On the Shapes tab, click Add… to add the required shape to the node.

    Shape defines various shapes (such as Rectangle, Ellipse, Circle) that is loaded on the node in a container.

    Important: You must define the shape and the class type when you create a new UI type from scratch.
  8. In the Add Shape window, select the shape type from the Shape type list, edit the shape attributes, and then click Ok.

  9. On the Advanced tab, select the class of the UI type from the Class type list, and click Ok.

    The new UI type is added in the Nodes dialog box and shows the UI parameters that you defined.
