Working with impact analysis diagrams
Impact analysis diagrams help you manage change in a complex engineering environment. Use them to determine how potential changes to an artifact can affect related artifacts. You can create impact analysis diagrams to explore work items that are starting from a focus artifact, and you can expand the diagram to show the relevant artifacts for your project.
You can generate impact analysis diagrams that are starting from a focus artifact to explore your information model and ask: What artifacts do I actually have in my environment?
After you generate a diagram, you can customize it to remove unwanted artifacts from the view as you go. In addition, you can create profiles to filter artifacts upstream or downstream from your focus artifact.
You can generate impact analysis diagrams from an artifact that appears in the search results, or from an artifact in a view container.
Learning objectives
- Create an impact analysis diagram to explore data associated with a focus artifact.
- Modify an impact analysis diagram to show data that is important for the project team.
- Create an impact analysis condition to show data upstream, or downstream from your focus artifact.
