Reporting and the upgrade process
To ensure a successful upgrade of IBM® Engineering Lifecycle Management (Engineering Lifecycle Management) reporting artifacts, review information about the data warehouse configuration, , and customizing the data warehouse schema.
When you upgrade the Jazz® Team Server and Report Builder to the current version, you should also upgrade Data Collection Component to the same version.
Configuring the data warehouse considerations
If you did not configure the data warehouse when you installed a previous version of Engineering Lifecycle Management, but want to configure the data warehouse for the new version of Engineering Lifecycle Management, ensure that you complete the following steps:
- Create a database to use as your data warehouse. For more information, see Setting up the database.
- Run the setup wizard and skip to the Configuring the Data Warehouse step. For more information,
see Configuring
data warehouse. Important: Running the setup wizard is not required to set up a new version server. The setup wizard is only used to configure the data warehouse if the data warehouse was not configured during the previous Engineering Lifecycle Management installation.
Guidelines for customizing the data warehouse schema
To ensure a successful upgrade when a new release of Engineering Lifecycle Management is installed, take note of the following customization guidelines with regards to the data warehouse schema .
- You should not customize the RICALM schema in the data warehouse.
- You may add your own custom schema to the data warehouse.
- You may add triggers and indices to the RICALM schema as long as their names do not begin with RI_. IBM will use RI_ as a prefix for future triggers and indices in the data warehouse.
