Setting up email notification for Lifecycle Query Engine events

You can configure Lifecycle Query Engine to send email notifications when specific events occur. For example, if a data provider becomes unavailable, or a node goes offline, or there is compaction or data set suspension failures, you’re notified and can take the appropriate corrective action.

Before you begin

Because Lifecycle Query Engine uses the Jazz® Team Server notification system, you must specify the corresponding properties on Jazz Team Server.
Log in to the Jazz Team Server as an administrator and on the main page, click Manage Server. On the Server page, under Configuration, click E-mail Settings, click Edit, and update the following properties:
  • Enable email Notification
  • Email From Address
  • SMTP Server

About this task

You can select the types of events and status levels for which you want to receive notifications.

Procedure

  1. From the LQE administration page menu, click Notifications.
  2. Click the Add Recipient icon to add users who are registered with the Jazz Team Server, and select the events for which to notify them.
Note: On Compaction failure event, an email is sent to the recipients about the failure and the compaction schedule is disabled. The recipients need to rectify the cause for failure and enable the compaction schedule.

Email notifications and archived users

By default, email notifications are not sent to archived Jazz Team Server users. Restricting email notifications works only for user email addresses on the Jazz Team Server to which Lifecycle Query Engine is registered. You can disable the default setting that restricts email notifications to archived users by deselecting the Remove archived JTS users from email notifications checkbox in the REST APIs section of the Advanced Properties> Internal Properties page.
