Running and viewing BIRT reports in the web or Eclipse client

There is an available set of BIRT reports, which you can access and run, and then view the report output. Some reports run exactly as-is without requiring any additional input; some reports require you to provide a small number of values, which tailor the output, before they run.

About this task

The IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management applications each include a set of reports that you can run from within the applications or within dashboards.

You can run any available BIRT reports from the Shared Reports page, your personal My Reports page or from a dashboard that contains report widgets. For more information on viewing reports in dashboards, see Viewing predefined BIRT reports in dashboards.

Procedure

  1. Open the reports menu and browse reports:
    • Web application: Click Reports to open the reports menu, then click My Reports to view all of your private reports or click Shared Reports to view all shared reports.
    • Eclipse client: In the Team Artifacts view, expand the Reports node under your project area, then expand My Reports to view all of your private reports or click Shared Reports to view all shared reports.
  2. Run a report:
    • Web application: Click the report that you want to view. You can enter text in the Type to filter box to narrow the list of displayed reports. To display the unfiltered list of reports again, click the Clear button in the Type to filter box.
    • Eclipse client: Double-click the report that you want to view.

Results

At the bottom of each report there is an About this report section. It shows the date and time that the report was generated and includes more information about the report. Click What does this report tell me? to learn more about the intent and purpose of the report. In some reports, this section also provides information on results that might indicate problems.

About this report section
Tip: Some reports are interactive. Some reports allow you to drill down into the information that is presented in the report. For example, in the report that shows work items by type, you can click a type's bar in the graph to display the list of work items.
