Special instructions for upgrading on IBM i

This section provides an overview of the steps required to upgrade the Jazz® Team Server (JTS) and the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management applications on IBM i.

About this task

Depending on which Engineering Lifecycle Management applications have been previously installed, the upgrade process is a combination of upgrading the Jazz Team Server and any other installed applications, migrating data, and installing new applications, like the Change and Configuration Management (CCM), Quality Management (QM), and Requirements Management (RM) applications (if any of them were not installed previously).
Upgrades for IBM i have several significant differences from upgrades for other systems:
  • IBM Installation Manager is not compatible with installations or upgrades on IBM i.
  • Installations on IBM i are handled by Licensed Programs.
  • The Jazz Team Server and other Engineering Lifecycle Management applications on IBM i use configuration and working directories that are separate from installation directories
