Planning to install on z/OS systems

When you install Jazz® Team Server and the other IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management products on a z/OS system, you must complete a few steps in addition to the general deployment and installation tasks.

Installing on a z/OS system has several significant differences from installing on other systems:
  • IBM Installation Manager is not compatible with installations on z/OS systems.
  • Installations on z/OS systems are handled by SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended).
  • Jazz Team Server and the other Engineering Lifecycle Management applications on z/OS systems use configuration and working directories that are separate from installation directories.
  • z/OS installations can be a hybrid of applications installed on z/OS systems and other systems.

For instructions to install Engineering Lifecycle Management on a z/OS system, see the following list of topics. The topics describe the steps you must take to modify sample members and other files and run them. For a printable version of the installation instructions, see IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management Installation Guide for z/OS version 7.0.3.

Alternatively, you can use the Engineering Lifecycle Management configuration utility to create a work flow that configures the Engineering Lifecycle Management components. For more information, see Installing the configuration utility .
