Connecting to multiple project areas
You can configure the ClearQuest® Synchronizer to connect a ClearQuest user database to multiple Jazz® project areas on one or more Jazz Team Servers.
An enterprise environment might consist of multiple project areas where each project area contains a team or teams that work on a specific component. Alternatively, an organization might designate project areas based on function, such as development, testing, documentation, and so on.
The users responsible for working on ClearQuest records might be distributed across these project areas. In this scenario, you want to be able to connect the ClearQuest user database to all of those project areas so that users can synchronize their work items with ClearQuest records.
For each ClearQuest record type that you enable for synchronization, you can filter the records to be synchronized by using a ClearQuest query. Queries are also the mechanism that you use to route records to specific project areas.
In the figure below, the ClearQuest Gateway uses queries to synchronize ClearQuest records with work items in three project areas, two on the Pacific Jazz Team Server, and one on the Caribbean Jazz Team Server.

Connecting a ClearQuest user database to multiple project areas on the same Jazz Team Server
In this scenario, you can route a particular ClearQuest record to only one project area. You must write the queries so that no single ClearQuest record is selected by more than one query. If more than one project area query selects the same ClearQuest record, it is unknown which project area that record would be routed to.
If, after a ClearQuest record is synchronized to a work item, you modify the query so that it no longer selects that record, the ClearQuest Synchronizer continues to route that record to the project area unless another query from another project area selects the same record. When another query from another project area selects that record, the ClearQuest Synchronizer routes the record to the new project area and disconnects the record from the previous project area.
Connecting a ClearQuest user database to multiple project areas on different Jazz Team Servers
In this scenario, you can route a ClearQuest record to multiple project areas as long as the project areas are on different servers.
