Configuring the server

You can use the Server Administrative page to modify the server configuration properties for items such as email notifications and database connections.

Configuring email settings
You can configure the server to send email notifications to work item owners and subscribers to inform them of changes. You can also configure the server to send email messages that invite users to join teams. This capability is disabled by default.
Configuring database connections
You can configure the database connection for the server in the Administrative web interface.
Configuring feed settings on the server
You can use the administrative web interface to configure feeds from the Jazz® Team Server or an application that is registered with the server. While the Atom 1.0 feed rendering scheme is set by default, you can also use RSS 2.0.
Configuring the frequency of feeds on the server
You can configure the server to reduce the frequency of feed polling from IBM® Engineering Workflow Management clients that are connected to the server and that support this feature.
Configuring themes
You can change the look and feel of the web interface by using themes with custom CSS, HTML, and JavaScript code. You can upload, preview, and activate themes for all users on the server.
Configuring OAuth consumers
You can create, approve, delete, and manage OAuth keys for consumers.
Configuring friends
Multiple Jazz Team Server can communicate with each other and share data by establishing a friend relationship and configuring OAuth access. You can request a provisional OAuth consumer key to communicate with other Jazz Team Server or applications, store information for accessing other servers in its server friends list, and manage entries in the server friends list.
Managing the URL allowlist
You can add a domain that is neither a friend server nor a registered application to the URL allowlist. The URL allowlist permits applications, clients, and web pages for the Jazz Team Server to send requests to other sites. For example, you could add a site that will provide an OpenSocial gadget for a dashboard.
Configuring advanced properties
You can change advanced server configuration properties using the Administration page of the Jazz Team Server or the Administration page of an application registered with the server.
Suppressing IBM Engineering Workflow Management pages in the web client
You can suppress Engineering Workflow Management pages in the web client so that users cannot view them. Suppressed pages are removed from the menu bar and hidden from view, but they are not disabled. You can go to suppressed pages by entering the URL in the browser address field.
Resource-intensive scenarios
The Resource-intensive scenarios page lists those server operations that can use a large number of system resources, which can degrade server performance and negatively affect the user experience.
Compacting index files
You can configure a task that runs periodically on an online server to compact the JFS indices.
Managing archived and unmapped resources
You can schedule a background task to manage archived and unmapped resources.
Configuring a custom logout page
You can configure a custom logout page for Jazz Team Server by setting a property value on the Advanced Properties tab on the Administration page.
Managing the size of the log file
Log files record all the errors and notable events that are created by the user. As the size of the log files increase, you can maintain their size.
Enabling automatic archiving of auditable links for work items
You can use the Administration page of the Change and Configuration Management administrative UI to enable the automatic archiving of auditable links for work items. Auditable links for work items include both Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) and non-OSLC links. Enabling this property causes the server to archive the auditable links that are associated with a work item instead of deleting the links. In doing so, users can opt to display a complete history of link changes for a work item on the History tab that goes back to the work item creation. By default, auditable links for work items are deleted, meaning that the history of these links is not available.
Enabling distributed source control
You can use the Administration page in the web client to enable distributed source control, so that you can deliver changes between repositories. You must enable distributed source control properties on the server for each repository. You must also enable permissions on each project area that governs components that you want to replicate.
Enabling Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration
Before you can associate a change set and change requests on different repositories that link by using the Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) specification, you must configure each Jazz Team Server that hosts the repositories to communicate with each other. You must also link the Engineering Workflow Management project areas.
Enabling an external content repository for source control
You can use the Administration page in the web client to enable an external content repository for source control. When enabled, source control content larger than the configured threshold is stored in an external content repository instead of in the application's database.
Enabling filtering of work item relationships with incompatible releases
For any configuration-enabled IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) application, such as IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS® Next (DOORS Next) or IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM), you can decide whether to see all incoming relationships from work items to requirements in DOORS Next, and test artifacts in ETM regardless of the IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) release that is associated with such relationships in a specific global configuration context.
Moving servers and applications to different timezones
Starting with version 6.0.5, you can migrate applications to a server on a different time zone.
Configuring change event service
You can configure the change event service properties using the Administration page of the Jazz Team Server or the Administration page of an application registered with the server.
Synchronizing LDAP with Jazz Team Server repository user information
To synchronize the user information in the Jazz Team Server repository with the information in the LDAP directory, you must use the LDAP sync task. Applications registered with the Jazz Team Server will update their local user repositories via their contribution synchronization task.
