Automated testing

You can use IBM® Engineering Test Management to manage and run automated test scripts that were created with other test tools.

With Engineering Test Management, you can create test scripts that refer to tests that were created with other test tools, such as IBM Rational® Functional Tester, IBM Rational Performance Tester, IBM Rational Service Tester for SOA Quality, and IBM Security AppScan Tester Edition.

You can also import your automated tests in bulk.

The test scripts that you create are references to the tests that were created in the other testing tools. When you run an automated test, Engineering Test Management sends commands to the machines in your test lab, running the original test and displaying the results in your browser.

You can save automated tests on test machines in your test lab or in shared network locations. When you create a reference to an automated test, you must specify the locations of the test resources. Before you can use test resources from a shared location, an Administrator must make the resources available to Engineering Test Management.

The user account that runs the test tool adapter must have an Engineering Test Management - Connector Client Access License and be assigned the Test Team Member role in the project area.

Note: Each test tool implements its own integration with Engineering Test Management. The instructions here do not cover all details of each integration. Therefore, be sure to refer to the specific test tool for further details.
