Installing the Word and Excel export utility

You can install an add-in for Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel to export test data. The exported file can then be imported into the Quality Management application as test artifacts.

Before you begin

Make sure that the following software is installed before you install the Excel/Word export Utility:
  • Microsoft .NET framework, v3.5 or later.
  • Microsoft Excel 2003 or later
  • Microsoft Word 2003 or later

You must have write access for %appdata%\Mso2Rqm\Mso2Rqm_Debug.log file. For instance, if you are a Windows 10 user, you must have write access for C:\Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\Mso2Rqm log directory, where USER is your user Id.

  1. You must first install the Microsoft interop support onto your system. For more information, see How to: Install Office Primary Interop Assemblies for instructions.
Note: The prerequisite for the interop assemblies is .Net framework v3.5. However, choosing to install the most recent version is the only alternative in the Software Updater and is compatible with the installation of the interop assemblies.
Note: The .Net framework v1.1 needs to be installed from the Software Updater if not already available. This version is needed by the interop assemblies.
  2. Download the compressed Word and Excel utility file:
    1. Go to the download page for Engineering Test Management.
    2. Click the link for your version of Engineering Test Management. This version is the same as for the Engineering Lifecycle Management.
    3. Click the All Downloads tab, and then scroll down to the Extras section.
    4. Locate Microsoft Excel and Word to IBM Engineering Test Management Import Utility and click All. View the license agreement, and click I agree to the terms of the license. Click Accept.
    5. Choose a download location and save the file.
      The file starts downloading.
  3. Extract the file that you downloaded to a temporary location.
  4. From the temporary location, run one of these setup files:
    • For Excel, run the RQMExcelImporterSetup.exe file.
    • For Word, run the RQMWordImporterSetup.exe file.
  5. Click Install, click Next to go through the installation wizard, and then click Close when the installation is complete.
  6. Open Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word, and verify that the ETM menu item is now available either on the menu bar or under Tools > Add-ins menu.
