Creating and editing process descriptions

You can create a process description for a project area, team area, or a process template. A process description provides guidance to team members as they work on the project.

Before you begin

To create a process description for a project area, you must be a member of the project area and have Create a process description permission. To create a process description for a process template, you must have JazzProjectAdmins or JazzAdmins repository group permissions.

About this task

A process description contains one or more practices, which describe different aspects of systems and software development in a specific context. The practices include defining requirements for a small agile team, creating release and iteration plans, and planning the test effort. When you create a project area based on a process template that has a process description, that process description is added to the project area. Likewise, when you create a process template by extracting the process from a project area, if that project area contains a process description, the new process template includes that process description.
