Choosing the Rational ClearCase view configurations
When you export data from Rational® ClearCase®, you must specify a non-view extended path when you specify one or more view tags.
About this task
You can efficiently migrate multiple configurations in a single operation. You specify the configurations by listing their dynamic views when you run the export command. When the importer uses the resulting files from the exporter during a run, it creates a baseline for each configuration. The baselines are named with the associated view tag. You can use these names to migrate configurations that are specified with label types or UCM baselines by using appropriately configured dynamic views. A good practice is to select the configurations for the releases that you are currently developing and maintaining, plus any other configurations that are important reference points. After you select the configurations, create a view for each one. Then, you specify the list of views in the export phase.
The ClearCase Version Importer accesses Rational ClearCase VOBs with one or more user-specified dynamic views. Unlike the ClearCase Baseline Importer, the ClearCase Version Importer does not create the views for you. You must create dynamic views and specify the paths to the export command.
