Conflicts can occur when two users make nearly simultaneous
changes to a ClearQuest® record
and its corresponding work item. You need to resolve the conflict
so that the work item and the record contain the same field values.
About this task
The following sequence of actions can cause a conflict:
- A Jazz® user changes the
value of a work item property and saves the changes. For example,
the user changes the value of the Priority property
to Low.
- A ClearQuest user
changes the value of the corresponding field in the corresponding
record and saves the changes. For example, the user changes the value
of the Priority field to 1-Resolve
Immediately.
The conflict occurs only if the second change is saved almost
immediately after the first change; otherwise, the outgoing synchronization
operation propagates the work item change to the ClearQuest record.
Procedure
To find and resolve conflicts:
-
In the Team Artifacts view in the IBM® Engineering Workflow
Management client,
right-click your repository connection and select .
- On the Synchronization Rules tab,
right-click the project area and select Show All Unsynchronized.
The Synchronization Status tab displays
a list of all synchronization operations that failed to complete successfully
and shows the status of each one.
- Double-click an entry that has a Conflict status.
The Synchronization Status page details the cause of the conflict.
For example:
Conflicting values for Priority property:
Last synced value = "Unassigned"
Current Jazz value = "Low"
New incoming value = "High"
Resolve the conflict by
selecting one value to use in both records. Scroll to the bottom of
the Synchronization Status page. Click Accept External
State to use the field value coming from the ClearQuest record. Click Accept
Item State to use the outgoing property value from the
work item.
Results
After you resolve the conflict, and the necessary synchronization
operation occurs, the record field and corresponding work item property
contain the same value.
