Planning to synchronize and import

Before you set up and manage the ClearCase Synchronizer or ClearCase Baseline Importer, you must understand some concepts and prepare the synchronization environment.

About this task

If members of the team work with Rational® ClearCase®, they must be familiar with the guidelines and restrictions that are described in Guidelines for Rational ClearCase users.

The following diagram shows the deployment scenarios for the ClearCase Synchronizer and ClearCase Baseline Importer:

Note: Installation scenarios:

• When you install IBM Engineering Workflow Management (EWM) by using the .zip file, the EWM Eclipse client and ClearCase Synchronizer are installed together by extracting the ClearCase Synchronizer .zip file.
• When you install EWM using IBM Installation Manager, the EWM Eclipse client and ClearCase Synchronizer are separate offerings. You must select each option to install them both.
