Adding and organizing tabs on dashboards

When you create a new dashboard, a default tab is created with the label General. If you plan to use more than one tab on a dashboard, you can customize the label for each tab. For personal dashboards, you can add, copy, and edit the tabs at any time. For public dashboards, you need permission to make any changes.

About this task

Each tab has a menu that controls the general tab settings, which you can modify for your personal dashboard or for a public dashboard that you have permission to edit. When the tab is active, you can use the tab menu to change the label, add and refresh widgets, change the number of columns, copy the tab, or delete the tab (unless it is the only tab on your dashboard). You can also change the order of tabs on a dashboard.

Procedure

  1. To add a tab, complete one of the following steps:
    • To add a new tab, click the Add New Tab icon (Add New Tab) to the right of the last tab on the dashboard. An empty tab without widgets and with a default name, such as New tab, is created.
    • To copy an existing tab onto the same dashboard, open the tab menu by clicking the Down Arrow icon (Down Arrow), and click Duplicate Tab. A duplicate tab, with the same name as the original tab, is displayed beside the original tab.
    • To copy an existing tab onto a different dashboard, open the tab menu by clicking the Down Arrow icon (Down Arrow), click Copy Tab, navigate to a different dashboard, and, on the toolbar, click the Paste icon (Paste).
  2. To change the tab label, click it twice to make it editable, type a new name, and press Enter.
  3. Optional: To organize tabs, complete any of these steps:
    • To change the order of the tab on the dashboard, drag the tab to a new location in the row of tabs.
    • To change the number of columns on a tab, open the tab menu by clicking the Down Arrow icon (Down Arrow), click Layout, and select the number of columns.
    • To resize the columns on a tab, hover over the space between the columns until a vertical bar is displayed, and then drag the vertical bar to adjust the column width.

What to do next

After you add a tab, you can add widgets to the page by clicking the Add Widget icon (Add Widget) in the upper right of the page.
