Smart cards and Windows user authentication

The administrator can configure IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS - Web Access (DWA) so that users can access it using smart cards instead of logging in with a user name and a password.

The administrator sets up the system to use smart card authentication by associating a user or users with a certificate, which is known as a user identifier key. The administrator associates certificates with cards, and then configures the system with command-line switches. For more information, see Configuring smart cards and certificates.

When you access IBM Engineering Requirements Management DOORS - Web Access (DWA), instead of logging in with a user name and a password, you must use your smart card.

DWA supports two types of smart card:

Public key infrastructure (PKI) cards
Common access card (CAC) cards

Users are allowed access to DWA when the card is inserted into a card reader. Usually, users must also enter a PIN number as part of the access process.
