Adding elements to an extended table

After creating a table from an extended table layout, you might want to add new element types to the table.

Procedure

  1. On the Table/Matrix drawing toolbar, click Add model element.
  2. On the Add new element window, select a choice from the Element type list.
This list is made up of your selections on the Element Types tab of the Features window for the extended table layout.
  3. Select a choice from the To Element type list.
  4. Select a choice from the To Element list.
    • Select the actual element that is to be the to part of the created relation.
    • The list is populated with the list of elements in the table view (that corresponds to the table layout) that defined the scope that matches the selected to element type metaclass.
  5. For tables with selected element types based on links: Select a choice from the Via Port list.
The list is populated with the list of ports in the table view (that corresponds to the table layout) that defined the scope that matches the selected to element type metaclass.
  6. Click OK.
This button is enabled only if what you have entered is possible for the table. Clicking OK:
    • Creates a new relation element and appends a new line to the table when the selected line already represents a model element.
    • Creates a new relation element and populates its data into the selected line when the selected line represents a potential model element.

Results

The revised table displays the new element automatically.
